Hedge Maze

The Hedge Maze is a labyrinth of hedge corridors southwest of Britain and east of Skara Brae, deep in the forest. From the Britain Moongate, head west to find it. The maze surrounds a small hill in the centre topped by a compound of buildings — once the laboratory of the dark-arts mage Relvinian, who has not been seen in many years. Signs nailed to trees around the perimeter ominously warn all to keep away. The maze is heavily patrolled by daemons, with bridge trolls blocking pathways and imps wandering the central compound. A handful of rares historically spawned in and around the central house.

Layout and Navigation

The maze has 10 entrances around its perimeter, marked E on the official map. Only one of those entrances offers a viable path to the central compound — the rest dead-end or loop back. Bridge trolls actively guard several pathways and will not let players pass without engagement, channeling traffic toward specific routes.

At various points around the maze are gardens, fountains, benches, and tranquil reflection spots — designed-in flavour content for the area, in stark contrast to the daemon patrols at the centre. Less experienced adventurers should avoid the maze entirely, and particularly the central compound, until they can survive a daemon spawn.

The Central Compound

The hilltop compound contains two structures connected by an underground passage plus a stone mage tower topped with a pentagram:

  1. Main house — the larger of the two buildings.
  2. Underground passage — connects the main house to the second building.
  3. Second structure — the passage exits here.
  4. Mage tower — stone, with a pentagram atop, accessed from the second structure.

A single gate manages access to both ends of the underground passage. The mechanic: raise the gate that blocks the door outside the house so that the door inside the passage opens. The two doors are linked through the same gate state, so only one is open at a time. Plan the route through accordingly.
