Magnus Grey

Magnus Grey is a character played by Malachi, one of two Event Moderators assigned to the Great Lakes Shard.

Magnus Grey is the Royal Spymaster, but has sometimes held the official title of Minister of Agriculture, in mockery of his urban background. (It is unknown if Magnus's role will be come more "official" and open with the ascension of Dawn to the throne.) After Casca's evil became obvious, Magnus ended up effectively being a resistance leader, along with Dawn herself and Sherry the Mouse.

Magnus can fairly be said to be characterized by tension between a strong sense of morality and loyalty on one hand, and a kind of quiet ruthlessness on the other. He was promoted, another character stated, because people thought he'd "be willing to break the rules to keep us safe." His status as de facto revolutionary leader during Casca's reign clearly suggests his loyalties are to the Virtues as a system rather than to whomever happens to be on the Throne.
