Raw Chicken Leg
A Raw Chicken Leg is a Food item primarily used as an ingredient to produce other food items by players with the Cooking skill. They are an easily obtained loot item from flying creatures killed in the game by using a blade on a corpse. They can also be bought or sold to NPC vendors in towns, usually in a butcher's shop.
It cannot be consumed by a character unless it is cooked. They're usually used to produce a Chicken Leg (cooked version) to eat but are also often used to feed Pets. It takes no Cooking skill to turn a raw chicken leg into a cooked chicken leg.

This was one of the possible items you would receive as new player equipment if one of your skills was Cooking. There were 17 (15 after publish 14) possible uncooked foods you could receive. You would get 3 of them. Newbiefied items stopped being given with the release of AOS.
