BillyHi everybody.
00:03:11
FennekoAll right, now that we said hi to everybody, uh, Kyronix, would you like to say some wise words of wisdom.
00:03:19
KyronixOh, I don't know about wise, but I just want to thank everybody for joining us this evening when we talk about all of the exciting and amazing things that we have upcoming for Ultima Online. The team has been incredibly hard at work charting out not only the next couple of months but the next couple of years when it comes to development. As most of you know, we have a major milestone ahead of us And we want to just again thank everybody for being here and being part of this community because that milestone would not be possible without all of you. So sit back, relax, and we will certainly enjoy some time together as we talk about all things Ultima Online. There's a few members of the team that aren't with us tonight. They couldn't be here unfortunately, but I just wanted to give a special mention to Ona Fark, Misk, and Ray, some of our additional teammates, uh, they are with us in spirit. So we will, uh, have a wonderful time. They're, they're fine. Don't take that to mean that they're not okay. They're, they're fine. They're just not here tonight.
00:04:27
FennekoWonderful. Uh, so before we get started, how about let's do a giveaway? To kick off the whole event. So our first giveaway is going to be something very special. You might remember it. It is the Winter's Frost set. Now, I heard a lot of you have missed out on that, but here's your chance to still get that Winter's Frost set. You will get one soulstone and three sapphire blue signature dyes. And then, yeah, so we're going to open up that wonderful giveaways area that you guys so love so that you can get started on getting into that giveaway. And yeah, how exciting. So excited.
00:05:19
KyronixCan we enter too? No, wait, that's probably not a good idea.
00:05:24
FennekoNo, no.
00:05:24
KyronixShucks.
00:05:28
FennekoAnd there it is. So why doesn't everybody head look over to the giveaway section and enter that right now? You're going to see a little green button with a little ta-da thing on it that says enter, and then go ahead and put your shard shield down there so we know where you're coming from while you enter the giveaway. Well, while that's going on, why don't we start, uh, a few of the Five on Friday questions that we kind of looked through and, and got some. So let's start with some of those while we kind of let this giveaway, uh, go for a little bit. Um, the first question is, would you consider Adding a book for the Kindleheart Love Letter collection that shows the to and from.
00:06:27
ParallaxYeah, um, so this is a very fun idea that someone brought up, and I think it'd be something awesome to do. Um, and we can definitely try to incorporate something like that, um, for the next run of Kindleheart. I think it would be a great way to display all those letters, um, that you guys have been collecting from the event.
00:06:44
KyronixYeah, that's really exciting, Parallax. Why don't you talk to us a little bit about what the thinking is behind what we're going to do with Kindleheart and some of these other events going forward? Because I know we've gotten a lot of tremendous feedback about them this year, and I don't know that everybody knows that these are going to be returning for successive years to come.
00:07:05
ParallaxYeah, absolutely. So the idea behind Kindleheart upcoming, um, Sprightlight, and some other upcoming seasonal events is that they are going to be seasonal and they are going to return year after year. And the rewards will remain the same unless we specifically mention that something's going to go away. New rewards could be added, but this gives you opportunity to look forward to something to do every year. If you don't get the item you want, if you weren't lucky enough to get the Flame of Kindleheart mount, for example, you'll have another chance when it comes back. So We want these events to be something that you guys can always look forward to every year and know what's coming up and be able to participate in. So that's our goal with these new seasonal events that are coming down the pipe.
00:07:49
KyronixSo you're saying I can collect mushrooms next year too?
00:07:53
ParallaxYou absolutely can. You can live your Funko fantasy all you want.
00:07:58
KyronixAwesome.
00:07:59
FennekoThat's awesome. Alright, while we have another minute or so, um, number 2: Can the Kindleheart furniture be made to face all 4 directions instead of just 2? Same with the crafted upholstered chairs, of course.
00:08:23
KyronixAh, this is a very, very good question. Unfortunately not. So one of the first, uh, things that I would really, really wanted to see was all 4 facings of the Magincia style throne. So right now, as you all know, you can only face those in the south and east direction. And I was like, oh man, wouldn't it be great if we could face those in all four directions? And unfortunately, the way that the Avatar sits in a chair, depending on the size of the chair, we can only have south and east directions. So if it's anything bigger than like a stool or the old style seats like the straw chair or the Moonglow and, or the Trinsic and, uh, different types of regular like dining room chairs from like Vesper. We can't do it, unfortunately. Oh, looks like we have a winner on the giveaway!
00:09:14
FennekoYes, indeed we do. Uh, and I'm going to butcher your name and I am very sorry, but congratulations, Ruark! Uh, you have won the very first giveaway. And again, what you have won is the Winter's Frost Souls, or Winter's Frost Set Soulstone and 3 Sapphire Blue Signature Pigments. If you could please message me on Discord, let me know what character and your shard, and I will be sure to get those to you as soon as possible. Thank you so much. Okay, now that that's over, um, I think I'm going to turn it over to you, Parallax. Um, Let's see, you— do you have some stuff you would like to share with the audience today?
00:10:06
ParallaxYeah, absolutely. So I'm going to talk a little bit about what's coming up in publish 123, which part of it is on Test Center 1 right now. For those that haven't checked it out, be sure to hop in there and check out everything as it goes through the testing phases. But starting in publish 123, we're going to have a new seasonal event. Sprightlight, where players will be able to explore the world and find and harvest magical mushrooms. As Kyronix was alluding to earlier, he can live out his foraging fantasy year-round— or not year-round, but year after year. Uh, Sprightlight mushrooms will be found across the open world, in dungeons, in all facets. The type of mushroom you find is going to vary based on the biome that it appears in. They also have a lot of variety of hues and rarity for you to collect. Um, several new craftable items are going to help you on your mushroom voyage. Uh, Tinkers are going to make new Mushroom Harvesting Knives, which are required to harvest the mushrooms from the ground. Cooks are going to make the Forager's Field Guide to Mushrooms, a codex of mushroomy information. Players will be able to use this book to identify all the mushrooms they find. Additionally, inside the book, it contains all known information about the various Sprightlight mushrooms, including where to find them, their rarity, and any known variants to help you become a master of the fungal foraging. You can trade in your freshly forged mushrooms to the trader found in Heartwood, but make sure to do so before they decay. If you would rather keep your fungal finds and put them on display, you can use the Mushroom Preserving Pack made by tailors to prevent them from decaying. However, be warned, once you preserve your mushrooms, the trader is no longer interested in them. I mean, we all know fresh mushrooms are where the real money's at anyways. Um, you're fortunate enough in your adventures, you may come across the rare Colossal Toadstool. These massive mushrooms take more effort to harvest but also have a rare chance for you to uncover the new Sprightlight Forager statue within it. Sprightlight Forager is a new mount in the line of elemental Clydesdales following suit of the Flame of Kindleheart, which was the fire Clydesdale. But also, we can't forget the most important aspect of mushroom harvesting: obtaining a trusty Truffle Hog companion. When you harvest mushrooms with a tamed Truffle Hog nearby, there's a chance for you to uncover truffles, which can be used in crafting new recipes available on the reward vendor. These recipes include a new Mushroom Basket to display all your mushrooms proudly, and the new Dreadshroom Cap, which is a new hat item, will make you the envy of all your peers around you. So that is an overview of Sprightlight, and as mentioned, that will be seasonal and that will come back year after year. So You don't get everything you want this year, look for it next year. Um, but that's not all, we're not done yet. Once Sprightlight ends, we're going to be moving into another seasonal event called Moonveil. This one is not on test server yet, but Moonveil— in Moonveil, we will explore a cosmic event surrounding the moons of Sosaria. A shift in their orbits has caused a meteor shower to rain astral fragments down upon the oceans of Britannia. Players will scour the ocean depths for Astral Shards and rare crystals, sail the oceans to find new points of interest in the water where fragments have fallen and fish them up. Players can also acquire fragments from hunting down Dread Pirates and raiding their cargo holds, as well as battling legendary High Seas creatures such as Korgl the Soulbinder, Osyrdyn the Scaleless Enforcer, and Charybdis. Additionally, the celestial event has bathed the land in a cosmic glow Moonveil, causing strange behavior in certain creatures. During Moonveil, you'll be able to find and tame a variety of critters in new Moonveil hues. But not all are caught up in the frenzy. The monks of Empath Abbey have recognized this celestial shift for what it truly is, a sign from the virtues. They are leading sacred pilgrimages to the 8 shrines of Britannia, rekindling traditions that stretch back to the earliest days of the realm. For those who complete these pilgrimages, recognition and rewards await. So that will be coming to Test Center 1 soon once we wrap up development on it. And as you can see, there are quite a few different ways to participate, from fishing, including new points of interest and SOS chests, battling pirates, scuttling merchant ships, defeating the High Seas bosses, partaking on the virtue pilgrimages, as well as taming a variety of new rare animals that will be in the world. So yeah, we hope to see you guys in Test Center when that's released and get your feedback on it. And now I'll turn it back over to you.
00:14:48
FennekoWonderful. Awesome. I will say I have been playing on TC1 for the Sprightlight event and I have had so much fun, and I encourage you to check it out if you have not already. It is super, super fun. I promise you're gonna love it. It's truly amazing, and I personally cannot wait for Moonveil because that sounds just amazing.
00:15:16
KyronixWho knew Parallax was such a fun guy?
00:15:21
BillyWe did.
00:15:24
KyronixThey are incredible events, and I love the nods that we have in some of these to a little bit of our own personal gaming journey over the years. So you'll probably see lots of lovely little Easter eggs in that content. That's really fun to see. And then the rewards are great too. We're so fortunate to have such a talented art team to create these amazing items.
00:15:49
FennekoOh, absolutely. Our art team is just absolutely amazing. All right, let's keep trucking along here. Um, Kyronix, I know we've, we've kind of touched on PvP before. Um, would you care to go into a little bit about that?
00:16:11
KyronixSure. So in publish 123, as everybody is, I am sure, well aware, we we aimed to implement a number of PvP-related updates and balance changes. So at the very top of that list is game integrity. You've all heard me talk about that, uh, during our past roundtables and interviews, and I've talked about it on the Discord. That remains a top priority for the team, and there will be more, uh, that we do in terms of preserving that game integrity coming along in publish 1.23. Because at the end of the day, if it's not a fair playing field, really what's— nobody wants to participate in that, right? Nobody wants to participate in an activity where the, the deck is stacked against you. So beyond that, we also solicited some feedback early 2026, back in January, on some updates that we could make to the overall PvP meta and certain aspects of PvP to bring balance. And we put a first pass to those on TC1 a couple weeks ago, and we definitely heard about it. Um, you know, one of the things about PvP feedback is that we have an incredibly passionate player base who enjoy that aspect of gameplay. So what I wanted to iterate at the start of that, and what I'll continue to iterate now, is that we put those changes back on, you know, I think 3 or 4 weeks ago at this point, well in advance of what our traditional release cycle would be on Test Center and into Origin. Because we knew that it was going to require a lot of feedback. So of the changes that we implemented, one of the most contentious was basically putting a trade-off in on the amount of +skill items that an individual character could use, and then having that scale the amount of outgoing damage. Originally, the intent there was to address a concern that it gave too much in terms of having all the skills that were possible with jewelry on one character where basically you had templates that were running with a quote-unquote master of all type situation. Based on the feedback that we heard, we've pulled that change back for now. We're going to review and look at other ways we can address that template diversity question of it without also handicapping the plus skill end of it that we heard feedback on. So we've got a couple of ideas on ways that we can do that. Uh, some of them have come from the community, uh, whether they are content-based where, uh, there's incentives for maybe not using that jewelry, but not in a sense that it would hamstring your character, more so that it would kind of be like if you remember back to when players would kind of have a little bit of emergent gameplay in terms of like how you can complete a certain encounter with the least powered template. So, you know, can you defeat this boss by wearing only basic gear as opposed to high-end gear? So there's an angle that we could approach it from in that regard where we have different scorekeeping and tracking and stuff like that to kind of incentivize people to maybe play without that high-end gear, but we also don't want to penalize it too hard. So it's a couple different ideas we have kicking around. That's just one of them. But we want to reiterate the fact that we are listening to your feedback, and, uh, we really appreciate how passionate everybody has been in that regard, just on not only on the Discord, but, you know, that's the other thing is we get feedback from everywhere. We get it from conversations we have with folks in our Discord channels. We get it from folks who reach out and email us, and we just want to really appreciate the vast overwhelming majority of people who have done that respectfully, with good faith arguments, and in a constructive manner. So we anticipate an Origin release of Pub 1.23 in probably the next week or so. Our goal for releasing 1.23 worldwide is mid-May, so we're getting pretty close. A couple of things we have to wrap up. Parallax talked about Moonveil, which still needs to get on to Test Center 1 so people can get a chance to take a look at that. But we're getting pretty close. So, you know, keep the feedback coming and we will continue to iterate and bring updates to the community.
00:20:41
FennekoThank you so much. Yeah, I can definitely say our PvP community is very passionate. Very, very passionate. Okay, moving along. Let's see, Bleak, I haven't poked you yet. What do you have to share with us for this roadmap roundtable?
00:21:08
BleakGood evening, everybody. I just want to take some time to talk about some of the main something that we've been focusing on for a while now, which is the performance of the Classic Client. One of the most important expectations from the client is that it needs to be responsive, needs to run at least at 60 frames per second. It needs to feel modern, and at this point, we need to be competitive with the third-party programs that are out there. So that is our goal. Our goal we have been working on to get the official client to be as performant as these other clients. Make it so that this is not just the— this— the changes that we've, we've been making are not a cosmetic update, right? These are fundamental changes how Classic Client works. Um, so what we've done, um, is we've ripped out the old software renderer that has been in the client for 20+ years and have slowly built up a new renderer that's GPU accelerated. This is the biggest performance unlock we can, we can do for the client. And it is not— it's not a simple change, right? This is not just a drop in a new renderer. Going into it, we knew that we wanted to leverage as much of the existing engine as possible. Want to have to rewrite everything, um, that eventually will introduce more bugs than we want. And we need to really maintain compatibility with the existing functionality of the client. Again, I think our— for a majority of our players, the Classic client is is the main client. It's what Ultima feels like, right? So where does that bring us to now, right? We started back in 2024 with, uh, with pretty much a mandate from you guys to fix the client, right? Give us, give us the modern, a modern feeling of the classic client. And as of today, we are very close to a releasable version, right? We are in the final stages of making— of getting to that point where we can have something that meets our standards. And so As of right now, this is my main priority. And it's the highest priority, is to work to release a classic client that's stable, that outperforms the current client, and is ready for you guys to put it through the wringer here in terms of scaling and events. And I understand some of the lag is a result of potential areas and events that happen on the server, and we are aware of those, and we are going to resolve those issues as well. Once we do release the client, this is not the This is not the end, right? We are going to— this is just the first step, right? We're going to then work on continuing with quality of life improvements to the Classic client. Um, oh, it's not just updating the renderer. We will be steadily making more and more improvements to the client. With that, I mean, we really want to also thank the guys over at Class Hero for, you know, the work that they also put in the web client. They have been very receptive to your feedback, and, you know, we love how they're interacting with the community, and I think the last patch that they did brought a lot of the enhanced client features into the web client as well. So, um, you know, I think that, uh, in the meantime, uh, we have several clients, but we are very close the release of the update for the Classic client. And with that, I will hand it back off.
00:27:09
KyronixBleak is being especially modest when he talks about the amount of work that has gone into upgrading that renderer. You know, he is an incredibly talented engineer and I think what he probably won't say, but I will, but he is the engineering glue that has kept this thing chugging along for as many years as it has, because it's not just a client update on his plate on any given day. He helps us on the development side, he helps us on a live service side. So any of the bigger issues that we face, that all falls into an engineering solution. So As he mentioned, we are pretty close here to, to having a releasable version. Somebody had asked me a couple of— maybe it was last week or something like that, kind of if the updated client would be part of the publish 1.23 release. And I just want to clear that up. So there's a server component to everything and there's a client component to everything. Our 1.23 update for the server, which includes includes all the events and the fun things we've talked about, that's going to be separate from the actual client release. There will be a publicly available version of the Enhanced Client, the Classic Client, that you can use to play on day one of the public release of publish 123. So you can go and play and you won't have to worry about it. When it's time for us to release the updated version of the Classic Client, we'll have details on uo.com on how you can go about testing it and trying it out, because of course, even, uh, you know, despite anybody's best effort, software is always going to have some bugs and issues that we're going to have to resolve. So we want to make sure that there is a stable version of the client out there while we're working through those issues on the update. So just keep an eye on uo.com for that. And right now the target is looking at, uh, come this summertime. So You know, we're in April here, probably into June-ish before we'll have something ready for public consumption. And like Bleak said, we are super excited to get your guys' feedback on it because I think this will be one of the biggest updates we've done from a gameplay ability standpoint in quite some time, probably since the release of the Enhanced Client.
00:29:31
FennekoThat's so awesome. And yes, yes, Bleak, thank you so much. Round of applause for Bleak, please. He's so amazing. All right. Now that that's all said and done, why don't we do another giveaway? This time, how about the Searing Ember set?
00:29:54
KyronixYes. Fire. All right.
00:29:58
FennekoWhat do you get in the Searing Ember set? You get a soulstone and 3 Decayed Moss signature pigments. So that's going to be going up into the giveaway area. And once that's up, please be sure to hit that green enter button. You're not going to want to miss out, cuz, uh, if you missed out before, this is your last chance to get one, right? And there it is, the giveaway has now started. Go ahead and hit that enter button and let's see those shard shields. Where are you coming from? Let's see those shard shields going. All right, and while that's going, let's go back to some Five on Friday questions that we had. Let's do, let's do this one. Does luck affect power scrolls given at Fel spawns, both in scroll level 110, 115, 120, and the scroll skill?
00:31:14
ParallaxUm, I will take this one. Um, the answer is only if you're truly lucky. No, but really, um, your player luck does not have any effect on the type of scrolls you get from Fel Champ spawns. It's an interesting, um, thought, um, but as of right now it's purely random, um, when you do it. Um, same thing with skills that are on the scrolls, it's just a purely random roll. So you keep getting a lot of those 120 mage fighting. I'm sorry, that's just luck of the draw, no pun intended.
00:31:47
FennekoI never seem to get a 121, never. I don't know what it is, I just have bad luck. All right, uh, next question. Uh, will we ever be able to get Will we ever be able to craft grass, snow, and sand tiles or obtain them another way? Lastly, is it possible they could be turned into items that can be double-clicked to lock them down like the granite floor tiles so they don't add to the item count?
00:32:25
KyronixI can answer this one. So as far as the availability of grass, snow, and sand tiles. We always look for opportunities for re-release of old decorative items. For example, in the Sprightlight vendor, which will be coming in publish 123, you can get a bag of grass tiles. So if you missed out on those from, oh gosh, more years ago at this point than I care to count, I think they were a holiday gift, you will be able to once again get those in publish 123. As to the second part of the question about whether or not we can turn them into the style of floor tile where you just double-click it and it locks down without counting towards the item count. Unfortunately, we can't. So, we have to be very, um, sensitive to the fact that every item we add to the game world is another item that we add to the game world. So, we have to keep item count limits in mind when we do that. We did it with the granite style floors and walls that we released with Time of Legends because we wanted to give people that freedom to decorate. In some situations, maybe that was just a touch too much freedom because we have had some issues with folks essentially building to the top of the world. And I mean literally the top of like the playable cube that is the proverbial game world. So bad things happen when, when you get that high up into the Z-axis. So unfortunately, we, we can't convert grass and snow tiles to work like that. Um, they'll have to work within the context of the lockdowns.
00:34:05
FennekoOkay, thank you, Parallax and Kyronix. And, uh, it looks like we have a winner. Um, this is going to sound strange, but the winner of the, uh, Decayed Moss and the Ember Soulstone is I... So I, if you could please send me a message on Discord with your character and your shard, and I will make sure to get those to you as soon as possible. Thank you. Okay, let's keep it going. Uh-oh, Billie, it's your turn. Let's see what you have to provide.
00:35:00
BillyAll right, well, yeah, I can talk about, uh, the new things that Art is gonna— that you guys will see from us in the upcoming, uh, publish. Alright, well first off, like we were talking about earlier, Sprightlight, it's a new holiday, which means lots of new art! I had a lot of fun designing like a bunch of little mushrooms for you guys to collect, and I think it ended up being like more than 20? I don't know, it was a lot. Basically Parallax was like, "Just make as many mushrooms as you want and maybe, maybe there should have been an upper limit, but there wasn't, so I went for it. And then in addition to that though, we'll also be having these new necklace items for you guys to wear. I believe they're supposed to have some manner of PvP property, but I am not sure. But I know they look cool and they look great and we make you look good. Yeah. And then in addition to that though, We also had to make more things for Moonveil. As you can probably guess from the name, it's very like celestial space kind of themed event. So we got like a lot of like moon, like lunar type items coming up for you guys. And then I in particular, I made these like little— I don't know if they're like bonsai trees exactly, but these little tiny moon trees and also these little tiny moon flowers to go with these little tiny sunflowers. And there'll be like, uh, different variations for you guys to collect. And then, uh, also I designed a whole bunch of new treasure chests that are going to be part of the Spoils of War, uh, update. And I believe it's like a new way to collect more stuff, and then it's like there's like a small chest and like a medium chest and like a big chest, and then there's like regular chest, but then there's like a fancy chest, and then there's like an evil chest. So you can kind of like get a clue of like what's inside the chest. Like, oh my gosh, ah, so exciting! But, uh, you know, and it may seem far away, but we're also been starting to talk about, uh, what we're going to be doing for Halloween this year and then also next year as well. I've actually been, uh, collecting all the pumpkins to make sure that we don't— to make sure we don't do repeats of pumpkins. We have to like gather them all every year and be like, okay, what do we not have yet? But, but as you guys know, there have been lots of years of pumpkin carving, so there are many, many, many more pumpkins to come. And yeah, we're also going to be hard at work at thinking of new things to do for every holiday, including our new holidays, since they're going to be new seasonal events now. So yeah, we've been making lists and thinking about fun things that we think you guys will, uh, like to enjoy.
00:38:03
KyronixI can't wait for the new pumpkins. Those are always my favorite.
00:38:06
BillyOh, thank you. I also love the new pumpkins. I like, I like pumpkins in general. Fall is fun. But yeah, we're, we're hard at work making new pumpkins and other fun collectibles for you guys.
00:38:20
FennekoAnd you're always so amazing at them, Billie. They are awesome.
00:38:24
BillyThank you. Oh, I appreciate that, Fenneko.
00:38:27
FennekoAbsolutely. All right, uh, why don't we take some more Five on Friday questions? I feel like we've got so many that are kind of floating out there. Why don't we get some more in there? Um, Here's, here's the next one that I have. Okay. When digging a dragon nest map, is the luck used based on the individual character's luck that digs up the map, or is it based on the average luck of the entire party?
00:39:03
ParallaxI'll grab this one. Um, lots of questions about dragon nest maps and the mature Umbra Scale eggs, not just Um, from today, but from many weeks in the past of Five on Fridays, you guys are really curious about the drop rates on those. Um, this question in particular, uh, the luck roll is based solely on the player that digs up the nest map and not on your party. So if you're hoping for that extra bonus on luck, give it all to the person that's digging up the map, or give the shovel to the person with the most luck. Your choice. But that's where the luck comes from, the person that digs it up.
00:39:38
FennekoSo you're saying I should always have the shovel?
00:39:44
ParallaxShovel is power.
00:39:49
FennekoAll right, next question. Should we use an engraving tool to label power scrolls, or could we use an engraving tool to label power scrolls, Alacrity Scrolls, scrolls, transcendence scroll books.
00:40:08
KyronixYes, that is a fantastic suggestion, and we can look to add that quality of life feature in a future publish. Um, being able to organize all of your collectibles and containers, whether they be chests, books, or otherwise, is super helpful because I certainly know that I can't find anything in my house without it.
00:40:27
FennekoSo Yes, definitely, definitely. I do love organization. All right, uh, does the amount of people killing the nest spawn affect mature egg chances?
00:40:46
ParallaxIt does not. The chance for the egg to appear in the nest is solely based off of the nest level and the luck of the player digging it. Now, if you're talking about killing the matriarch, each player at that point has their own chance to roll for a mature egg. But as for the nest itself and the brood mother, those are based solely on the level of the map and the luck of the player. Okay, not, um, not the size of the party or participants.
00:41:18
FennekoOkay, that's good to know. That's good to know. Um, can we increase the drop rate, the drop rate when obtaining keys for ML boss encounters?
00:41:32
KyronixVery good question. So one of the goals that we had for 2026 was to focus on some of our existing permanent content in addition to continuing to provide on all the seasonal events. So Part of that goal is to look at existing content to revitalize it and bring updates to not only how we could incentivize players to return to those through new rewards, but also looking at things like how the encounters are performed. So for example, in publish 123, we did a big update to the Harrower. I think one of the best compliments that Onafark got on Some of the creatures that he made is that a player remarked that they had nightmares and couldn't sleep because of the, we call them the meatballs, but the big eye looking creatures from the Harrower. So beyond just making the rewards cool and also revitalizing some of the associated AIs and the encounter dynamics, we also wanna make sure that those encounters are accessible. So obviously things have changed since their original implementation. Implementation with how people play the game and what a typical gaming session looks like. So being able to provide additional opportunities to obtain keys for things like Mondain's Legacy boss encounters would fall into that category. So you can look for that in a future publish across not just Mondain's Legacy boss encounters, but any existing legacy encounter that we've had for a while. I see some emojis of the meatballs being shared in the Discord chat, and yes, they are absolute nightmare fuel.
00:43:12
FennekoOh, I think they're kind of cute. All right, uh, is there any way we could get the enchanted gardening shears to have a context menu that allows the gathering of resources and seeds as well as putting a plant in decorative state.
00:43:38
KyronixThis one is especially near and dear to my heart because, um, one of the very first things that I worked on or tried to work on as a designer on Yewo was doing something with the gardening, uh, system. So, uh, I remember that was probably the first time when I opened up, uh, the system and was, uh, crying myself to sleep that night because it's It's a lot to take in and it's written in such a way that it's sometimes a little counterintuitive to understand. So fast forward to— I forget which publish it was, but it was pretty recently— we released event reward, the enchanted gardening shears that allows you to mass collect seeds and resources from garden plants, which is super helpful because otherwise you got to click a whole bunch of times and And one of our other overall goals is we want to make gameplay as, as little tedium as possible. So clicking on something to collect all those resources over and over, certainly not something we want to keep around, and we want to provide alternatives to it. So I definitely think we can add a feature to the enchanted gardening shears where you would be able to set, like, through a context menu option, the ability to set a plant that you target into decorative mode. All right, you would just have to be super duper careful about which plants you're targeting so that you didn't accidentally decorate something you've had along for a while. So be careful, don't run with scissors.
00:45:16
FennekoOkay, um Can we get a counter on the shard shields to tell us how many tokens are on the shields?
00:45:25
KyronixYes, we will do this in publish 1.24.
00:45:29
FennekoWonderful, wonderful. Is it possible to get a spot on the lore sheet to tell us what the animal is? As of now, if someone gives you a pet and you do not know what it is, there is no way to find out other than killing the pet and looking to see, quote, a white worm corpse, for example. Just adding a spot to show with the actual name or type of pet could really be helpful.
00:46:00
ParallaxUh, yeah, so coming in publish 123, we have an update to the stable gump, um, which is available now on Test Center for those that want to look at it. And what we've done is we redesigned that to show the statuette version of the pet that's in the stable. Um, and part of this is to clean up that old gump and also help you identify the pets that you have in your stable. Because sometimes— I'm guilty of this myself— if you've got pets named random things, you may not remember what they are. So that's part of that process of updating old gumps to just help with that. And the animal lore gump is kind of similar to that. One of the long-term goals I have is definitely updating the animal lore gump to be more modern and show more information and adding something like the pet's breed or pet species on the, the gump is definitely something something we could do. I don't have a timeline for that, so don't hold me to it, but I can definitely see that being added as a quality of life feature.
00:46:58
FennekoThat would be absolutely amazing. Thank you so much, Parallax. Uh, next question: is there any reason why we can't have castles and keeps in Malas and Tokuno?
00:47:14
KyronixAh, the Malas and Tokuno Castle question. It has come up many times in the past. Unfortunately, those areas were built in such a way that they don't support that larger housing, so we won't be able to add anything larger than an 18x18 customizable house. However, however, we do know that there is a strong desire from the community for additional opportunities for larger housing plots and greater decorative abilities. And I think one of the most enticing and core features to UO is the ability to build and design your house. So I will just say to stay tuned for future developments on that.
00:48:03
FennekoOkay, thank you so very much. Wonderful. All right, uh, just like we saw the Shadowmane's debut last year onto the regular shards, are we going to see others from Mondain's Legacy available as well in the future?
00:48:22
ParallaxUh, it's, uh, it's a possibility. Um, there's definitely consideration that must be made regarding pets on regular shards that also exist on Mondain's Legacy, as we don't want to undermine the efforts of those that acquired them on Mondain's Legacy by just releasing them production shards as well. Um, not to say that we're not going to do that, but, um, most likely a lot of the unique pets in New Legacy, such as the Manticore or the Draw Worm, are going to stay on New Legacy. Um, but there's definitely possibility in the future that there can be some crossover pets, um, making their way to both shards at the same time.
00:49:00
FennekoOkay, awesome, awesome. All right, uh, when Farming rare color tamables, does luck affect color types and/or stats?
00:49:16
ParallaxUh, no, it does not. Uh, the only thing that affects or can influence the spawn rate of pets, particularly their colors, is the Totem of Chromatic Fortune from the Yewo store. Um, other than that, uh, when a pet spawns, it gets a completely random color from the list of colors assigned to it, as well as, um, from its stat pool. Um, yeah, so the only influence there is if you use the Totem of Chromatic Fortune in an appropriate, uh, spawn.
00:49:46
FennekoOkay, awesome, awesome. All right, you know what, I'm feeling like we need another giveaway. Yes, another giveaway. All right, uh, next giveaway, uh, we had this not too long ago, but there was a a lot of people that really wanted this and missed out. Uh, so let's do some Twilight Blush set. Um, and we're gonna do the soulstone, the hair dye, and 3 limited dyes with that one. So if you missed it out on it before, don't worry, this is your chance to get it again, uh, if you are lucky. So once that goes up, don't forget to hit that green enter button so that, uh, you can get— try and get one of those. And there it is! Go ahead and click that enter button and let's see those shard shields. Where are you entering from? Look at all those shard shields go! Oh my goodness! So many, so many from Atlantic and Sonoma. Wow.
00:51:10
KyronixI've always been very partial to the Siege Perilous shard shield design because it's super cool. And also the Europa one because it's a little castle.
00:51:20
FennekoThose are nice. I've always been partial to the Sakura one. I bet you can't guess why.
00:51:29
KyronixDefinitely, because it's blue.
00:51:31
FennekoMost definitely. Okay, that's only got a few minutes in there. Uh, let's go ahead and do, uh, let's do one more question. Um, curious why certain arties aren't dyeable with the new dyes, especially the Paladin Vambraces. Void-Touched Curious Cutlass, or Curious, uh, would be super awesome with the new dyes.
00:52:09
ParallaxSo in order for an item to be dyeable with the store dyes, or, um, promotional dyes as they're also referred to, an item must be enhanced with special materials. So that means for those items that you can't directly dye at buying from the vendor, you can have a crafter enhance them with special material such as colored ingots or colored leather to get that enhanced effect. Then you can dye them. There's also some artifacts that we release that are pre-enhanced, which means they can't be further enhanced by a crafter. But since they are pre-enhanced, you can dye them directly off the vendor. So it's kind of a mix and match of how we decide to release the artifacts based on the event and the item itself. So chances are if you can't use a dye on an item you bought off a reward vendor, you just need to enhance it with a crafter and then you'll be able to dye it after that.
00:53:00
FennekoThat makes sense. That makes sense. All right. We've just got a little over 20 seconds left. 19. So be sure to hit that enter button now. Don't miss out on your chance. To get those Twilight blush items, especially if you missed out before. Not that I'm partial to those as well for any particular reason. All right, congratulations, Shui, you have won. Congratulations. Gut, gut. Indeed. Uh, please be sure to message me on Discord with your character name and your shard, and I will be sure to get those ASAP. Just a reminder, I know, uh, I cannot get them to you right now. We are doing the roadmap roundtable, but I will get them to you. I will be sure to message you, uh, and we'll work out a time frame where we can get those to you. I promise. Yes. Yay, Shui! All right. Let's see here. Why don't we shift a little bit and talk about Publish 1.24? Kyronix, why don't you go ahead?
00:54:32
KyronixPublish 1.24. So 1.23 is nearing its release date. So we've already turned our attention to Publish 1.24.
00:54:39
Fenneko24.
00:54:40
KyronixUh, there's some really exciting, uh, headline items that are coming out in publish 124, return of some old favorites and some new stuff as well. So right now we're targeting probably late summertime for publish 124. Uh, this publish is going to include our 29th anniversary gift, so obviously it has to go out before September. So first thing on that list is 29th anniversary gifts. Does anybody know what the 29th anniversary gift is. Let's see if chat knows what's up here when it comes to traditional wedding gifts, which we— yeah, there we go! Hallister knows furniture. Very good. Oh man, divorce papers. Um, yes, furniture is the traditional wedding gift, which is kind of what we have, uh, been using as a primer for our, um anniversary gifts for the last couple of years. Anybody know what 30 is? See what people say here, if anybody can tell us what the 30th is.
00:55:46
FennekoI love pudding.
00:55:48
KyronixAnd pudding, pearls, gravestone, headstone. Oh my goodness. A car. Yes, we will be introducing— no, I'm kidding, there will be no cars in Britannia. Cappy bear, love it. So I've seen two of them. Somebody— yeah, jewelry, pearls and diamonds typically fall into it because there's, um like traditional and then modern, uh, gifts. So because it's such a, a big milestone for us, we probably will do all of them. We'll have to wait and see, but for now we're focused on 29 furniture. So we've got some exciting furniture items coming along as 29th anniversary gifts. If there is a piece of furniture that you have longed for to spruce up your home, uh, feel free to drop in our feedback threads here on Discord, uh, because, uh, pretty soon the artists are going to get cooking with, uh, drawing. Save diamonds for the 60th. Yes. Um, so the artists are going to get drawing here very soon, um, and I know we've got some exciting ideas on the— in the backlog for furniture. Um, beyond the anniversary gifts, we also have our traditional fall holidays. So Billy already talked about the pumpkins and jack-o'-lanterns and fun things around Halloween. Also updates for our skeletons. That's always a hugely popular event. We've added some additional types of skeletons that you can collect with your character names. We haven't updated trick-or-treating in quite some time, so we're gonna add some additional items to collect through trick-or-treating and see how we can make that content a little bit more interactive and fun beyond just kind of walking your way through the cities and trying to find random NPCs. So we'll— got some design time set aside for that. And then also we have the return of Caldoon around Halloween with some items that still remain a fairly rare get from some of those hidden chests. Speaking of hidden chests, that remains one of our most popular play activities during our Treasures events, and Parallax and I have talked a couple of times about ways that we can expand that. So just a couple of different Halloween and dungeon-y type things that are in the hopper right now. Of course, all subject to change here in some regard based on what our overall development goals are and the scope of some of these things as we move through production for those. We also have a new holiday that's coming out in publish 124 called Shardfall. Shardfall is a celebration in some way of the shattering of the Gem of Immortality. If you all remember back during the 300th anniversary, you got a plate from Mondain's Legacy. So Shardfall is kind of like our take on a summertime holiday of different pyrotechnics and explosive little decorative items to make celebrations a little bit more lively. Also in publish 124, something we try to address during every publish, you heard me talk about a couple of them already with regard to quality of life updates. So we have a large backlog of quality of life updates that folks in the Discord were able to contribute to. I want to say it was towards the end of last year we had a thread going. So we've been chipping away at that where we can. And then we get some suggestions throughout the year through our Five on Fridays and things like that. For kind of relatively low lift quality of life updates, those are super simple for us to do, so we want to tackle those at every opportunity. And that will pretty much make up the bulk of publish 124, and before you know it, we'll be on to publish 125 and our next roadmap roundtable, but I'll save, save it for that. Our goal is to, to at least kind of do quarterly updates as we move through each publish, depending on what's in that publish and what our overall schedule is like. We try to schedule either roadmap roundtables here in the Discord or share with those on— share that information on uo.com. We want to remain committed to staying proactive with our communication, and we appreciate everybody's participation both here in the Discord, in-game, and through all the feedback channels that we have so that when we ask the question, "Are you with us?" we know that you are. And at the core and at our hearts, we are all Britannia. Blow up New Haven. Oh boy.
01:00:40
FennekoOh my goodness. It just gets so dark so quick. All right, thank you so much, Kyronix. Uh, next up, uh, Nick, I have something that a lot of players keep asking, and, and the keyword is NLS when. So why don't you take it away and talk about New Legacy Season 2?
01:01:12
ParallaxNo, I think we're gonna skip that segment. No, just kidding.
01:01:15
KyronixUh, you're gonna say if you do that. Yeah, I can see him typing right now.
01:01:20
ParallaxAlthough I do like his— like his idea of, uh, getting hints about New Legacy Season 2 from begging on trick-or-treating.
01:01:32
KyronixI admire his dedication to it every day. Yes, take it away. So yeah.
01:01:39
ParallaxNew Legacy Season 2. Um, so wanted to share some of our goals for that season, um, which is coming up. Um, so one major thing we want to improve with New Legacy is just the player onboarding experience in general for both new and returning players. Um, what that means is improving in-game tutorial systems for brand new players to Ultima that may not even know how to move, to basic combat, to doing objectives on New Legacy and just being able to play the game and get into it more successfully. We also want to provide a path forward for players that already know how to play and have even played New Legacy Season 1 where they can skip this tutorial aspect and just get right into the part of the game that they want to participate in. So part of our goal is just improving that player onboarding experience for Season 2. Additionally, we are going to be introducing a new advanced narrative line in Season 2. Uh, players will be able to choose to follow a more righteous path with the introduction of the chivalry narrative line. Um, so you'll be able to pair that with, uh, some of your base specs such as Warrior, Archer, um, to create a more complex character. Um, so that'll be something to look forward to. Additionally, we're going to be looking at some of the legendary foe encounters in New Legacy and doing some tweaks to them. You know, maybe a buff here, a tweak there, some additional abilities sprinkled in, maybe some new encounters. You know, we'll see. Do I dare dream of a world where you fight 4 manticores at the same time? Would I be that menacing? I don't know, maybe. We'll have to see. Well, we do have some design space for some new furry or scaly companions in New Legacy Season 2 if you can acquire their lures. So that would be new pets or new colors of the existing New Legacy pets. We also have a slew of slated quality of life updates based on your feedback from Season 1. We always appreciate the feedback we get and, you know, does not go unnoticed. We do listen to it and we'll be making some Definitely some improvements from past season for you guys. And now the thing I think most of you interested in New Legacy have been waiting for— when is it coming? When is Season 2 coming? Well, we're excited to announce that we're targeting a fall 2026 release for Season 2 of New Legacy. So we hope you'll join us when that's released, whether you played Season 1 or you're brand new to New Legacy. It'll be fun. We hope to have you there.
01:04:18
KyronixYes, that is very exciting. There was something that you touched on that I kind of wanted to just, uh, take a few minutes and talk about because I think it's so important, and it's the idea of spending time on that player onboarding experience, new players and returning players. Um, one of the things that we saw from New Legacy Season 1 was how amazing this community is at shepherding players into the player communities that form the backbone of the UO experience. So, you know, we have a number of different kind of metrics where we can see how players are transferring off at the end of New Legacy Season 1 and things like that, and seeing the response of established production shard communities and how they reacted to new players coming from New Legacy that maybe haven't played production before or haven't in the wild was really awesome to see. So we want to continue to foster that. We want to continue to make the experience for players coming to Ultima Online for the first time as enjoyable as possible. For those of you who have been playing UO for a long time and, you know, if you're ever feeling a little feverish and decide to play other games for that matter, you can see a lot of crossover in mechanics and themes and different gameplay elements that are pretty commonplace and pervasive in, in gaming in general these days. So, you know, I think there's a number of, of gamers out there who would appreciate an experience, uh, similar to what they may have had in other places but playing it on UO for, for the first time. Because at the end of the day, really, the quote-unquote quote, special sauce for UO is the community. So we want to be able to bring new blood in, find some of our long-lost friends, and get them into the game world as seamlessly as possible.
01:06:15
FennekoHeck yeah! I know a lot of people have very, very fond memories of New Legacy. I know I am one of them. And New Legacy was just absolutely spectacular. And I know there's been a lot of people that said they regretted missing out on New Legacy. So this is your chance. New Legacy Season 2, it's coming, it's coming. And do you know that player onboarding experience is phenomenal. So I highly encourage you to check that out. All right, uh, let's get into a few more questions. Um, let's see here, where did we leave off? Um, ah, uh, would it be possible to add an 8th character slot upgrade and possibly 20% more housing storage in the UO store?
01:07:21
KyronixMore characters and more housing. Unfortunately, it's not something that we can offer through the Ultima Store. That's handled in such a way that we wouldn't be able to do that. But additional housing and character slots are always available through new veteran accounts. So, you know, there's no limit to how many of those you care to have. So if you want more housing and more character slots, great opportunity to open up a new account.
01:07:48
FennekoWonderful. Yeah, yeah, definitely. All right, um, does moving a nest map reduce the chance for mature eggs in them somehow?
01:08:02
ParallaxUh, yes, but only if you move them up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right. That is the secret code. Um, beyond that, no, there is no, uh, special movement code or anything that will affect, uh, mature egg drop chances by moving around the nest map.
01:08:23
FennekoGotcha, gotcha. Love the response though, love the response. Okay, on the roof, which boss has the best chance to drop a Cameo?
01:08:40
ParallaxUh, whichever one you kill first, so you never get the chance you need. No. Um, so with the Roof encounter, since it is a 4-boss encounter that is randomized, um, the encounter— the loot rolls at the end of the encounter. So the final boss you kill has no bearing on the artifact roll you receive. It's, uh, all the same.
01:09:00
KyronixI could have sworn it was Ozymandias. It's always Ozymandias.
01:09:06
ParallaxAnd those Hyryus Exactly.
01:09:12
KyronixSomebody wants 120 fletching updates. Shui.
01:09:24
FennekoOh, Shui's the one that just won the last giveaway that we just did.
01:09:31
KyronixWe've looked at different ways that we can increase archery as in the number of weapons. So it's definitely something we've talked about. Who knows when that might be popping up? Wink wink, nudge nudge. Pet breeding. I want baby horses. Wow, that's a great idea.
01:09:52
BillyHmm.
01:09:53
KyronixWe'll see.
01:09:55
FennekoOoh. All right. Uh, next question. Uh, could we get some additional elemental damage pack pets to complement the orc or shadowhounds?
01:10:15
ParallaxUh, yeah. Um, so, you know, we always look at ways to incorporate new pet options into content where it makes sense. Um, obviously if we're having like an ice-themed event, it only makes sense to have like, um, something with fire damage in that, um, necessarily. But, um, adding additional varieties to elemental pack animals is definitely something we can, uh, look at incorporating in future content. I'm all for that. It's a great suggestion.
01:10:41
FennekoYeah, definitely.
01:10:42
KyronixCould we do beyond the ones we have? A pack capybara?
01:10:49
FennekoDo they travel in packs?
01:10:52
KyronixSure, why not?
01:10:53
FennekoYou do now. Boy, Parallax, you're on fire today.
01:11:25
BleakUh, so I thought about this and I think it is possible, but the scale would definitely be limited. Um, most likely the client— it's mostly client-focused feature. Um, so if it's visible in the house It's definitely doable, but items within containers will require players to at least go and open containers initially.
01:11:53
FennekoSo, okay, uh, yeah, so I got a— people were saying that my mic cut out on the YouTube and Twitch area, so I'll repeat the question so that you guys have a little bit more context into that. Uh, the question was, can we get a search the whole house option added to the house's signpost, it would search every lockdown. If the item is found, it is retrieved by clicking on it in the Gump. That was the question. All right, let's move on to another question. Is it possible to get buff icons with timers for luck as well as combat?
01:12:37
KyronixI saw this question when it came in through the Five on Friday. We need some additional information about what specifically, whomever's question that was, if they're in the chat, feel free to fill out the details, but what information you want to see from those buff icons as it relates to luck and timers and combat.
01:13:00
FennekoYeah, yeah, definitely, definitely. So if you are around, go ahead and put it in the chat. If you happen to watch in the— if you happen to watch this later, uh, go ahead and post, uh, you know, just add a little comment to your initial post and then we can, uh, get that looked at a little bit more at that time then, I guess. Um, oh, someone said, uh, I don't think there is a luck icon when you're buffed.
01:13:30
KyronixOh, from like the different luck statues, like the, the various increased luck statue stuff we have. I see. Uh, yes, yeah, that should be possible.
01:13:44
FennekoOkay, okay. All right, uh, is it possible to revamp the spellweaving focus system to support players that need a focus on low populated shards?
01:14:01
ParallaxUm, so there currently exists several ways in game to help acquire higher level focus with less people. There's several arcane circles in the world that provide this bonus, one of them being at Britbank, which I think is the most common one people use. As well as you can use the spellweaving mastery to get yourself a bonus to the focus level so you don't need as many people. With that said, I could see where we could introduce some kind of consumable item that provides a bonus to a spellweaver's arcane focus in future publishes. But straight up just removing the player requirement of that is not something we're likely to do. But some kind of either crafted item or other wise obtainable item that could help boost that in certain scenarios, I could see that being a possibility.
01:14:48
FennekoOkay. Okay. That makes sense. How about this question? Does luck affect the color of the mature eggs when they spawn?
01:15:03
ParallaxLots of egg question colors tonight, um, or rather egg drop chance questions tonight.
01:15:09
KyronixUm, no, excellent questions.
01:15:12
ParallaxYeah, they really are eggcellent for sure. Um, speaking of that, Calder's Watch has a title, Eggcellent. Go pick it up, it's your own. Um, but as far as luck, um, affecting the color that rolls on the mature eggs, It does not. Luck only affects the drop chance for the egg to roll. And then luck is— or luck is not a part of the second roll that happens to determine which color you do get from it.
01:15:40
FennekoOkay. Okay. We have a person that joins a lot of the livestreams and they do a lot of dad jokes. So yeah, he'd be beaming with pride with all those, all those ones. In there. All right, uh, let's see, uh, how about revisiting the seasonal events? Will new rewards be available every third year or so to keep them interesting and still allow at least 2 years to acquire the most recent rewards?
01:16:19
KyronixThat's a really good question. I don't think our intent with the seasonal stuff is to remove rewards like, or have temporarily available rewards like some of the other seasonal events we do, like when we have like treasures events and things like that. So Parallax can talk more about the specific rewards that are in there now, but our intent is to have this continue on year over year with the ability ability to get those rewards, right, Parallax?
01:16:48
ParallaxYeah, definitely. So these seasonal events, as we mentioned, will come back year after year, and the reward pool, unless otherwise specified, will remain the same. And we do intend to, when time allows, update the rewards on the vendors as well, so there's something new each year for you to acquire, as if you've bought everything off the vendor from the previous runs of it. So the question specifically was every 2 or 3 years. I could definitely see it being a case where we would have new rewards at least every 2 or 3 years. But the goal is every time it runs, we have something new for you to have on the vendor and as well as the old rewards that were on there from the previous year. So we don't want you to miss out on stuff. We want you to be able to participate, get the items do once and not feel bad about, you know, not being around or not being able to attend the event. So yeah, the rewards will remain unless otherwise specified. And, you know, new rewards will be coming.
01:17:55
FennekoThat sounds wonderful. I like that. I like that. I like being able to have that, that time to kind of— if I miss out on something, I know, you know, I have, you know, another opportunity. So that's super awesome. That's super awesome. All right, I have a question. I have a question. This has been just in the back of my mind and I need to ask this. So Parallax, I'm going to ask you this. What has been so far for publish, you know, 1.23? What has been your favorite event, you know, to do thus far? Say 1.22, 1.23.
01:18:38
ParallaxUm, well, I'd probably go back a little further than that. So there's a lot of memorable events that I've done. Most recently, the Sprightlight event. I had a lot of fun with that one and the whole mushroom collection and variety. That was a lot of fun to do. But I would say the most memorable event I did is probably the Rifted Crown. Specifically the Siege of Mistis component. That took a lot of planning and just figuring out how to actually have you guys load catapults and fire them at a building to destroy walls and stuff. And that was very fun to do. And just watching that happen was very fun to watch the players actually participate in that. Next to that one, definitely the finale event of New Legacy Season 1 with the Four Harbingers and the Victor Blackthorn fight. That was great fun to do. A lot of fun to watch as well. Um, there was a lot of chaos in that and it went really well. Um, but I mean, I enjoy every event that I put out since I started. They've all been fun in their own ways, but I would say those are probably the two most memorable events that I've done recently. Um, special mention to the Dragon Mage Shark, which became permanent content. Obviously that was a really fun one to do. Obviously there's some AIs are some abilities on the mage arc that carried over from New Legacy with like the spinning fire effect. And we got some new graphics from Billy with the, the nuclear bomb explosion that the mage arc will rain down on people, which was very fun to do. But yeah, as someone in chat pointed out, he likes to watch us all die. That is true. That is a fun thing to watch on New Legacy. I don't want to kill you guys intentionally, but it is very much fun to watch you guys do the encounters.
01:20:32
FennekoAnd it's got to feel really, really wonderful to see the players just so engaged. And, you know, they've, they've really been really, really excited with all the content that you've been providing. So, I mean, on behalf of, I would say, most everyone, thank you so much, Parallax. Thank you.
01:20:56
ParallaxYeah, you guys are welcome.
01:20:58
KyronixHe does a phenomenal job, very creative.
01:21:01
FennekoAbsolutely, absolutely. All right, uh, let's see. Um, will we have a chance to test New Legacy features before New Legacy Season 2, uh, release on New Legacy TC?
01:21:20
KyronixSo if anyone was around for the initial release of New Legacy, we did have a testing period on the shard. So we would probably kind of do it in a very similar way. We don't have a dedicated New Legacy test center, but we would essentially be very open about what the testing period was for New Legacy Season 2 and then provide all the necessary dates and everything like that when we were going to do final wipes and things like that. So just keep an eye on uo.com. We'll have all the details on there as we get closer to the fall and the release of New Legacy Season 2, so you'll know when to come and test things. Obviously, there'll be an opportunity for feedback, and then once we get through all that, we will have a full release schedule so you can begin your your new, new Legacy journey.
01:22:16
FennekoAwesome, awesome. And just to reiterate that, um, uo.com is going to have all the information on when you need to switch out from New Legacy Season 1, right?
01:22:30
KyronixYeah, so basically right now, if you can still play New Legacy today, it's kind of in what we call light mode. But before we transition off of that, there will be plenty of notice on uo.com.
01:22:42
FennekoAwesome, awesome. Uh, somebody posted double up stable slot space, please.
01:22:52
KyronixI have seen this a lot in the last couple of weeks. Yes, there are many pets to collect, and we know that stable slots are at a premium, so we are looking at ways to allow additional storage of pets. It's going to have to come in the form of a new type of stable, just based on some technical limitations to how the current stable works. But providing additional means by which you can store pets is certainly something on our radar and roadmap for the next couple of publishes.
01:23:25
FennekoOh, that's good because I have so many pets and I'm starting to get to the point I may have to choose who to let go and I can't be trusted with that kind of responsibility.
01:23:37
KyronixJust so long as you're not getting rid of your truffle hogs.
01:23:40
FennekoNo, absolutely not. That we've already decided, the chat already decided we have to name him Crispy Bacon.
01:23:48
KyronixCrispy Bacon? Oh my goodness.
01:23:51
FennekoYes, yes. So, oh, someone said, I will adopt your drawl worms and moldering earth signs, Fenneko. No, no, I'll keep, I'll keep that in mind.
01:24:08
KyronixAll right, barn. I like that idea.
01:24:11
FennekoOh, that is a nice idea. That is a kind of a cool idea. Yeah. All right, um, Billy, I have a question for you. What has been your most favorite thing to create thus far from, say, Sprightlight up until now?
01:24:37
BillyOkay, let me think. Well, to be honest, I did really enjoy making all those mushrooms. Like I said earlier, those— oh, actually, wait, wait, wait. That reminds me, I was— I almost forgot because I was thinking about later. I was like, I forgot to mention them. But maybe my favorite of the mushrooms is the mushroom hat that humans and elf players can wear on their heads. Yeah, I was basically like, hey, Kyronix, what if hats? And he was like, yes. And then, and then, uh, Poor Crow had to deal with the 3D part.
01:25:11
KyronixBut yeah, yes, as a '90s kid who played up with OG Mario Brothers, I am never gonna say no to a mushroom hat.
01:25:23
BillyExactly.
01:25:26
FennekoHeck yeah. Yes, I really enjoyed that, and it looks amazing. I think it's so adorable. Uh, Larissa— yeah, Larissa said, OMG, that mushroom hat is the bomb, it's so cute. Thank you, Billy.
01:25:43
BillyYay, you're welcome.
01:25:45
KyronixThere were some Easter eggs that Parallax included with that event that we had to back away from for, for reasons that I cannot get into. But they were super fun. But unfortunately we had to back off just to touch on those.
01:26:00
ParallaxYeah, there's still some Easter eggs in that event. They're just not quite as fun as they used to be.
01:26:07
KyronixYeah, there you go.
01:26:08
ParallaxSee if you can find the reference in there.
01:26:13
FennekoAbsolutely. So much fun. Um, okay, uh, we've got another question. I noticed on TC1 there are castle-sized empty plots to be customized by players. Will this be implemented into shards on the next patch too?
01:26:32
KyronixVery good question. So that's part of, um, something that we used to do where we had customizable large plots that we would then implement into the house add-on system. The issue that we ran into with that is, you know, we tried to look at the fairest way to implement new designs into the house placement tool. So that's where the whole voting system came in, and we allowed the community to kind of decide which designs to move forward with. The issue that we ran into with it though is that in order to actually get those designs into the tool requires a a pretty strong engineering and QA lift. And right now our engineering resources are primarily focused on, as Bleak pointed out, the client update, right? That's our top priority. Beyond that, there's always going to be things like game stability and stuff like that that we have to deal with too. But that's pretty much why we haven't done those in a while, because we've been focused on the client update. Beyond that, we've— at least I've always thought, like I said earlier, that UO Housing is one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game, and I think it's one of the biggest aspirational gameplay elements that we have. So, I have constantly kind of pulled at the thread of how we can expand on it to the point where we can allow players a little bit more agency in building the world up around them. And, uh, being able to do something like that. Nothing concrete just yet to announce, but know that that is kind of kicking around at any given time, and you never know what crazy thing we'll come up with next.
01:28:19
FennekoOoh, very good. All right, um, let's see here. Well, I haven't poked at Bleak in a while, so I'm going to poke Bleak. Bleak, inquiring minds need to know, since you've started your endeavor, how many cups of coffee have you had?
01:28:43
KyronixMillions. Billions.
01:28:49
BleakMillions. Coffee.
01:28:53
FennekoLots and lots of coffee.
01:28:56
BleakYeah, no, uh, I think I drink at least 1.5 cups every single day, so yeah, modest, modest.
01:29:11
FennekoAll right, um, Kyronix, I'm gonna ask you a very similar question to Beely and, uh, to Parallax. Out of, uh Everything that's been done since Bright Light and everything that is, you know, to come yet— 1.23, 1.24— what is something that you're most excited about or something that you really just, in your opinion, nothing's ever just gonna top it? It's so amazing.
01:29:42
KyronixAnd just 1.23 and 1.24, I mean, I think the I don't want to pile on, but SpriteLite is pretty cool. And the reason— I obviously Parallax made SpriteLite. I still contribute some design in general, but Parallax does most of that these days. So what's unique about that for me is, you know, when you build something from the ground up and then you release it, it's very difficult to then go and kind of have fun playing it because the surprise is spoiled, right? Like if I build, for example— oh, what was one of the ones I did? Um, I think back to— I think it was the 15th anniversary event. Implementing that and then going and playing it, like I played through it, but like I knew all the secrets and all the story, so it's not same. So, you know, now that Parallax is doing that, I have an opportunity to experience a lot of the design work just like the players do, which is super fun. Um, with SpriteLite especially, I loved how the in-game reference for the Mushroom Codex expanded the kind of lore and immersion of the event as a whole. I've always thought that that was a super cool thing to experience in any game when you find reference materials that keep you embedded in the game world and keep the immersion alive without breaking the illusion in the fourth wall. So that I think is really, really cool. The other thing that I think is really exciting, and I'm excited to to see how people will interact with it, because I don't think it's, it's gotten a too terribly amount of testing just yet, is the Spoils of War feature. So one of the things that we've looked at in the past is how we can implement some content for player versus player gameplay. And you can pretty much look at it on a spectrum. We can do things that are super objective oriented, some of the things like we did on New Legacy with Dungeon Outpost fights, some of the things like you can experience with Vice Versa Virtue, or you can go the opposite end of that spectrum where you have something like very organic, like Yew Gate fighting, right? There's nothing special about the Yew Gate other than its location. It's just kind of how PvP has organically developed over the years. So I think what we wanted to do was lean more towards the organic nature because One of the things that we have continuously heard in feedback over the years when we've touched different PvP systems is that at the end of the day, we just want to fight. Okay, we can definitely do that. So we leaned into that idea with the Spoils of War. So it gives people an opportunity to essentially put a giant target on their back and try and get some amazing loot out of it. So I'll be excited to see how that plays out when it gets to the production shards, because I think that's really when it's going to get its first test and really kind of get people a chance to experience it. So I'm very much looking forward to that.
01:33:09
FennekoOkay, okay, very cool, very, very cool. All right, let's see. See here. Hmm, lots and lots of people. I can't believe we have so many people watching right now. Oh my goodness, 139 viewers right now!
01:33:39
KyronixCan we get a PVP award so we can gather our victim— victims' heads and put them on spikes? Uh, unfortunately not. No, there's an ESRB concern there and we can't do it.
01:33:55
FennekoDarn those ESRB warnings.
01:33:58
KyronixUm, yeah, Matt said shout out to the folks on Yamato who posted a really long video of them playing Spoils of War in TC from start to finish. Yeah, big time. I watched that, that feedback was fantastic. We love our Japanese community. They're so super engaged and involved and we really appreciate them taking the time to play the new stuff and give us feedback on it.
01:34:26
FennekoYeah, Yamato is such an amazing shard to do that stuff. They're always such a great community and seeing them do that was absolutely amazing. Yeah. And Larissa said if you put the champ spawn skulls on test center, uh, they can run some Harrowers there. Uh, so yeah, they're, they're saying, uh, they're going to be doing a bunch on Origin when it comes to—
01:34:50
Kyronixso another chair question from Daria Blackmore. Unfortunately, uh, we answered this earlier. I don't know if you missed it, Daria Blackmore, but for anything that has a high back like the, uh Magincia-style thrones, we can't do all four facings. It clips into the avatar. Super, super depressing, but unfortunately a limitation of the client.
01:35:16
FennekoYeah, it'd be kind of weird if like suddenly your head was just on the chair. That would be kind of—
01:35:23
ParallaxI think, what was it, Bleak?
01:35:24
KyronixYou were— the avatar was like sitting on top of the back of the chair or something when we did it, right?
01:35:32
BleakYeah, that's it.
01:35:34
ParallaxThat's the issue.
01:35:35
KyronixYeah, he's sitting on the chair AC Slater style.
01:35:41
FennekoOh my goodness. Okay, um, let's see here. Oh no, you cannot buy Blackthorn's Castle. Goodness. No, no, Lord Blackthorn lives there. I think you'd have a hard time serving him an eviction notice. Just saying. You would let him stay? I don't know.
01:36:21
KyronixCan we demolish British's castle to build a park? Thank goodness.
01:36:27
FennekoCould we fight him for it?
01:36:29
KyronixWhat?
01:36:34
FennekoPoor Blackthorn right now.
01:36:36
KyronixGonna be an angry mob at his castle trying to evict him.
01:36:44
FennekoOh my, could you imagine? Oh, make him a boss fight. Uh, let's see, let's take a look at what's going on in the chats right now. Um, would it be possible at some point to get a sneak peek? Uh, Implode, no, no, but keep an eye on yew.com. It will have all the information on when, you know, testing for all that good stuff starts. So please keep an eye out for uo.com, or, or you can sign up for the newsletter. It's how you're going to stay in the know about UO.
01:37:32
KyronixI want to lay on a bed. Um, that was an intentional design decision made back in the day for reasons I'm not going to get into, but unfortunately, no, you cannot lay on the bed.
01:37:46
FennekoOh, interesting.
01:37:49
KyronixIf you want to, if you're curious about that, I would encourage you to go listen to some of the postmortems that the old UO devs did back in the day. They get into that. But yeah, no, sorry, I can't lay down.
01:38:05
BillyOh no.
01:38:08
FennekoTheir undergarments are 30 years old. Oh my goodness. That seems unsanitary. All right, let's see here. Uh, will, will we all— words are hard. Will we ever have new Dragonite colors? Maybe.
01:38:34
ParallaxUm, it is a permanent system, um, and as we alluded to with, um, some the seasonal events and other content going forward, we do have intention of updating new events and systems that are permanent or recurring. So I could definitely see space to add new colors to the mature dragon eggs when that comes. Nobody knows, but I could see it coming in a future publish or so. We released Calder's Watch at the beginning of this year. I could almost see like something happening beginning of next year, like for a one-year anniversary of Calder's Watch. Um, but yeah, I— that's definitely a possibility.
01:39:20
FennekoYeah, the one in Calder's Watch is just— that, that hue was just gorgeous. Just gorgeous. Personally, I'm personally working to, you know, playing to get that one for sure because it's, it's just stunning. Uh, oh, Matt asked, how about some new book cover designs? I feel like we might have answered that at one point.
01:39:51
KyronixMatt loves books. Uh, yes, it's definitely possible. Um, it's pretty simple tile art. I know Billie did the Mushroom Codex. I think she did, right? Billie, you did the Mushroom Codex cover, right?
01:40:07
BillyYep, that was me.
01:40:08
KyronixYeah, so it's definitely possible. I know one thing, we won't be updating any old school books. Those will remain the same, lest we revisit the runebook fiasco of 2013. So no, we won't be updating any old books, but we can have new books for sure.
01:40:30
FennekoNice. Uh, I just saw one. Oh, um, asking about more deco sets in the in-game store.
01:40:43
KyronixUh, it's certainly possible. Um, one of the things that we kind of looked at is taking some of that deco and providing it through just regular gameplay as opposed to gating it off by the store. You know, in terms of our overall store item design philosophy, you know, we provide incentives for folks who choose to purchase things from the store, but we also don't want to just completely gate things off if we don't have to. So for things like decorative items for your house and things like that, I think our preference is to put that behind gameplay rather than a store item.
01:41:30
FennekoThat absolutely makes sense. Absolutely. I know I love playing for different deco items.
01:41:37
BillyI love—
01:41:37
Fennekokitchen for me is like the big thing. I love just putting things around the kitchen.
01:41:47
KyronixSomebody asked about some new clothes. What kind of clothes would you like to see? Let us know. We'll look at them.
01:41:52
FennekoOh, definitely.
01:41:56
KyronixGlacial.
01:41:58
FennekoI think that's the one they always ask about. Oh, um, a maritime museum, uh, built in UO.
01:42:18
KyronixWe have lots of maritime stuff, so possible. Sure, there is a produce stand that we had as part of the new Legacy Art Bundle. We haven't used it yet though, so you never know.
01:42:33
FennekoWell, there you go. Well, that would be super cool. Okay, um, you know what? I think it's time. I think we need to do another giveaway. Just one more, one more. And, uh, I'm thinking we should do the Wildfire set, and that's going to be the soulstone, hair dye, and 3 limited dyes. Uh, so why don't we get that going? Uh, be sure to check out the giveaways section of the Discord. Once you see that green enter button, please click that. There it is. So you can have your chance to win again one Wildfire soulstone, one Wildfire hair dye, and three Wildfire signature pigments. And let's once again, let's see those shard shields. Let's see where everybody's coming from. Power Pro Player says go Pacific! Oh, this time Catskills is, is representing too. Oh my goodness. Wow. It's always interesting to see how, where people are joining, you know, as far as their home shard is, you know, I always find it so interesting to see how many people, you know, what shard they consider home.
01:44:19
KyronixCatskills just finished dinner time.
01:44:28
FennekoOh, Power Pro Player says don't let cats win Pacific. I, I think— I, I'm sorry, Power Pro, but, uh, I think, I think they might. Oh, Great Lakes Forever, uh, Sonoma repping tonight. Nice. Atlantic. I love that. I didn't see, uh, many— I didn't see any Great Lakes on there. Oh my goodness, my goodness. Wow. So, uh, are there any closing things any of you would like to, um, talk about or anything like that before we start to kind of wrap things up a little?
01:45:40
KyronixWell, I just want to say thank you to everybody for participating tonight. We want to thank everybody who came out to the Discord and joined us at the tavern in game, as well as watched on Twitch and YouTube. Remember that the community is what makes this game so unbelievable and so unique. So from all of us at Broadsword, we want to say thank you. And then personally, I just want to extend a very special thanks to, uh, the entire team for making the time to join us tonight, uh, to our amazing Discord moderators They do an incredible job keeping the train on the tracks, as it were, when it comes to the Discord. We know that there's a ton of very passionate conversation that happens on the Discord, but please remember that on the other end of that conversation is an actual living, breathing human being. So just be nice to each other. Fortunately, by and large, the vast majority of folks who participate understand that. That, but just be awesome to one another. And then of course, a very special thanks to all of our Event Moderators for keeping the world alive and interesting. And from all of us, thank you again, and we will see you in Britannia.
01:47:05
FennekoThank you so much, Kyronix. That was absolutely wonderful.
01:47:10
KyronixDon't assume we're all human. There might be some gargoyles in here. False. Gargoyles can't type because they have claws.
01:47:18
ParallaxOh my goodness.
01:47:19
KyronixThey would just mash the keyboard.
01:47:21
FennekoOh my goodness.
01:47:23
BleakText to speech.
01:47:25
KyronixText to text. It's like that episode of The Simpsons when Homer tries to dial.
01:47:34
FennekoOne of my favorites. All right, we have a winner for that giveaway. And Tiggy Wiggy, if you could please send me a message on Discord with your character name and your shard so that I can, uh, get those items to you as soon as possible. Like I said, I will be in contact with each and every one of you when, for availability and everything else to get all of those items to you in a timely manner, of course. So please be on the lookout.
01:48:13
KyronixThere was one thing I did want to mention, Fenneko, before we go. A couple of weeks ago, we asked the community who would be interested in taking on the role of Discord ambassadors. As basically a role within the Discord that could be a member of the community that would be interested in helping and shepherding new players into different playstyles and communities and things like that. So we have gone through all of those who asked to be ambassadors, and we want to thank everybody for their interest, and we anticipate putting out those roles and contacting all those who wanted to participate within the next week here or so. So thanks again to everybody who wanted to and sent in their requests, and we'll be getting back to you shortly here.
01:49:05
FennekoAwesome, awesome. Well, thank you very much. Yes, a lot of people saying thank you. Oh, there's that Day. I was telling you about Day. He loves He loves his dad jokes and everything. And he was talking just the other day about how there's so many things going on with food items in the game right now with the events. And he said, you know, we have scrambled dragon eggs, which we don't eat the dragon eggs. We have the upcoming truffled hogs, which apparently make good bacon strips. So yes, he's, he's been joking about Yewo needs a Waffle House.
01:49:50
ParallaxHe's definitely going to get the guards called on him for those remarks. That's just, uh, Kippy eating the dragon eggs and cooking the truffle hogs.
01:49:59
FennekoSee, I warned you, Day. I did. I warned you. All right, I, um, I think that about wraps it up, uh, unless any of you have anything else you would like to say.
01:50:21
ParallaxUh, just to reiterate what Kyronix said, you know, thank you to the community for participating and coming out and all your testing on TC1. Um, you guys is looking at the content on TC1 when released, it definitely does help find bugs and issues that we may not have caught. And we appreciate your feedback. So really like seeing you guys on TC1 when we push publishes out and hope to see you continuing to test stuff out when we release this next batch with Moonveil and going forward into 1.24. So yeah, just thank you very much. Appreciate it.
01:50:56
BleakYeah, thanks everybody for coming out. Listening to us talk about game we all love.
01:51:10
FennekoMost definitely. I think we can all agree that this game is near and dear to all of our hearts.
01:51:17
KyronixSo best game ever.
01:51:20
FennekoWell, of course, I think that goes without say.
01:51:26
KyronixOh, there was a Reddit thread on, uh, I forget which subreddit it was, but it was like, which game from the '90s do you wish you could go back and play, or something like that. And there was a bunch of all the classics from the '90s, and somebody was like, Ultima Online! And then somebody else was like, you could still play it today! And they were like, really? I'm gonna go check it out. So whenever we see things like that, it's always very nice.
01:51:49
ParallaxWe love our silly little wizard game.
01:51:52
KyronixThat's right. Or as my roommate in college called it, the fishing game.
01:51:58
FennekoOh my. I have— I can say I've actually met quite a few people out in the real world. And as soon as I mention Ultima Online, you can see that spark in their eye. And they're like, wait a minute. 'You could still play that?' And I'm like, 'Absolutely you can.' And they get all excited and giddy. So it's always super, super cool to see in person too. All right, well then, I guess that kind of wraps it up. So I would like to thank all of the devs here, uh, for being here. Thank you, Kyronix. Thank you, Bleak. Thank you, Parallax. Thank you, Billy. Thank you guys so much for being here today. It was wonderful to have you guys here and doing this roundtable. These are always such a pleasure to do, so thank you, thank you, thank you so very much.
01:53:03
BillyYeah, have a good night everybody.
01:53:04
KyronixHave a great night.
01:53:06
ParallaxHave a great night everyone.
01:53:07
BleakTake care.
01:53:11
FennekoAll right guys, and I want to thank all of you for being here today. Uh, it's always a blast to hang out it with you guys. So thank you guys so much for being here.
