Gretchen the Alchemist

Gretchen the Alchemist is one of the human pioneers of the Society of Ariel Haven, the encampment in the early Underworld. She is among the first NPCs a traveller encounters when adventuring into the Underworld, and the quest-giver for the Curiosities ingredient-gathering quest.

Gretchen asks for 3 Bone samples and Fertile Dirt.

Although she requests the player find these inside the Underworld, both ingredients are far more readily found in the old lands — Bone drops from many low-tier undead across Britannia, and Fertile Dirt can simply be purchased in the shops of the Royal City of Ter Mur without any combat at all. The Underworld-only framing is narrative, not a requirement.

Reward: an Exploding Tar Potion.

The Reward — Exploding Tar Potion

The Exploding Tar Potion is thrown like a standard Explosion Potion but applies a forced-walk effect to anyone caught in its blast radius. The forced walk can be resisted by players with sufficient Magic Resist skill — making the potion most effective against low-Resist targets and especially against unsuspecting PvP opposition.
