Cove

Cove is a tiny coastal village located between Britain and Vesper on the northern coast of mainland Britannia. The community has but a handful of buildings — a farmer's market, a supply shop for warriors, and a healer — but its City of Love designation makes it the cosmological home of the Principle of Love in Britannia's Virtue system. The town is ruled by the Britannian Council in both Trammel and Felucca, and is most famous for its long history of Orc raids from the Cove Orc Fort to the south, which has served as a staging ground for orcish attacks on the village many times in UO's running fiction.

The Cove Orc Fort

The Cove Orc Fort to the south of the village is one of UO's longest-running ongoing-fiction locations. The fort has served as a staging point for periodic Orc attacks on Cove across many event cycles — the Merciful Angels Defense of Cove (BNN-documented), various Orc Captain invasions, and ongoing PvE attrition. The Orc Fort itself is a multi-room compound suitable for solo or small-party combat: Orc Captains, Orc Mages, and Orc Brutes spawn at standard rates.

The Bank in Cove was added relatively recently in UO's history — it allowed slightly more foot traffic to a town that had historically been a quiet stopover.

Strategic notes

• Cove is the only Britannian city associated with the Principle of Love — Honesty/Truth is in Moonglow, Courage in Jhelom, but Love is uniquely in Cove. This makes Cove relevant to Compassion and Justice virtue gains for characters seeking the Love-axis Anti-Shadowlord (Astaroth) defense.
• Repond Slayer weapons are extremely effective at the Orc Fort — Orcs are the canonical Repond target.
• Vesper-to-Britain travelers naturally pass through Cove via the coastal road; it is a logical resupply waypoint.
