Fire Dungeon

A folio of the realm

Fire Dungeon

The Fire Dungeon (no proper canonical in-game name — known by its river of lava and its fiery denizens) is a launch-era classic dungeon found on the docks of Serpent's Hold in Trammel and Felucca. The dungeon connects Serpent's Hold's western docks to the lava pits in the southern desert north of Papua in the Lost Lands, making it one of the original Lost Lands passages. Its inhabitants — Lava Snakes, Hell Hounds, Fire Steeds, and the scorching Efreets that occasionally drop rare armor — give the dungeon its character. In Felucca, Level 1 hosts the Abyss Champion Spawn.

Location and entrance

Theme

The dungeon takes its informal name from the river of lava running through it. The dungeon's denizens reflect the fire theme:

Level 1

Trammel

Felucca

The Abyss Champion Spawn in Felucca is a major draw — its champion is Semidar (or the rotating Champion creature for that altar), and Power Scrolls drop from spawn participation.

Level 2

Trammel

Felucca

The Daemon and Efreet density on Level 2 makes it the canonical "Demon Slayer" farming spot in early-game UO — the spawn is consistent and the loot frequency is high.

Lost Lands Passage

Through the Fire Dungeon is a passageway to the Lost Lands. The exit leads to the desert region north of Papua.

From the Lost Lands side

To find the passage from the Lost Lands: 1. Travel east over the Eastern bridge of Beggars Gorge. 2. East again to Sak Teb. 3. Near the lava-filled pools, find the cave entrance. 4. Trammel side: filled with all manner of hostile creatures. 5. Felucca side: only minor beasts roam — much safer.

The Fire Dungeon is therefore an alternative to the cave-tunnel under Britannia for crossing into the Lost Lands; players bound for Sak Teb or the desert spawn use this route.

Tactical considerations

  • High Fire Resist (60+) is essential. The dungeon's spawn deals heavy fire damage; without it, even small mob accumulations can kill.
  • Cold-damage weapons are highly effective against fire-themed monsters — Ice Slayer is unfortunately too narrow, but cold-elemental damage on most weapons is bonus damage here.
  • Demon Slayer weapons / books make Daemon and Efreet farming trivial — recommended for Level 2.
  • Repond Slayer is also useful (covers Hell Hounds and Hellcats).
  • Healing potions stockpile — pet healers (Cu Sidhe with Greater Heal) and self-bandaging compose the survival kit.
