Isamu-Jima
Isamu-Jima
Isamu-Jima is the largest island in the Tokuno Islands group, introduced with the Samurai Empire expansion (2004). The island is dominated by the stratovolcano Mount Sho and contains a wide variety of biomes — from the icy Winter Spur in the north to the Lotus Lakes in the southeast and the Tsuki Forest woodland environs. Isamu-Jima hosts two of the most distinctive Tokuno landmarks: the Fan Dancer Dojo (a special ninjitsu-themed quest dungeon) and the Valley of the Sleeping Dragons (a peaceable dragon-eyrie). The island also serves as the mainland entrance to The Citadel — Travesty's Court — at its eastern flank.
Geography (16-region map)
1. Beetlescape
A place to hunt the Rune Beetle without a Yamandon present — Beetlescape is the safer Rune Beetle hunting ground for tamers seeking the rare insect mount.
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Crane | Evil Mage |
| Evil Mage Lord | Kappa |
| Rune Beetle |
2. Winter Spur
The icy environment in the north hosts chilly villains.
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Giant Ice Serpent | Ice Elemental |
| Lady of the Snow | Polar Bear |
| Snow Elemental | Snow Leopard |
| Walrus |
The Lady of the Snow is a notable Tokuno-myth boss — a yuki-onna inspired creature with cold-themed abilities.
3. Fan Dancer Dojo Entrance
See main article: Fan Dancer Dojo. A ninjitsu/bushido themed quest dungeon.
4. Valley of the Sleeping Dragons
See main article: Valley of the Sleeping Dragons. A peaceable eyrie of slumbering dragons; sometimes hostile when disturbed by event-cycle quests.
5. Lightest Dark
The name implies the resident — the Rai-Ju is the thunderous companion to the Shinto god of lightning. Lightest Dark hosts these mythological lightning-creatures.
6. Hiryu Forest
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Elite Ninja | Hiryu |
| Kaze Kemono | Lesser Hiryu |
The Hiryu here is a notable tame target — the full-grown Hiryu mount is one of the most prized rideable pets in UO.
7. Yamandon Point
If it is Rune Beetles you seek, try Beetlescape (Region 1) instead — Yamandon Point has Rune Beetles plus the Yamandon, which is far more dangerous.
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Deathwatch Beetle | Rune Beetle |
| Yamandon |
8. Tsuki Forest
Forest environs yield forest creatures, truism for Butcher's War Cleaver.
The Tsuki Forest is a forest woodland — ideal hunting ground for an archer or ranger character pursuing the Butcher's War Cleaver quest reward (a butcher-leather farming utility).
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Black Bear | Brown Bear |
| Dire Wolf | Grey Wolf |
| Reaper | Rideable Llama |
| Timber Wolf | Tsuki Wolf |
9. Lotus Lakes
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Crane | Dread Spider |
| Giant Black Widow | Giant Spider |
| Kappa |
A spider-rich environment in the southeast. Useful for tamers seeking poison-resistant pets to fight here, or anyone using Arachnid Slayer weapons.
10. Mount Sho
The eastern slope contains undead, while the volcano proper has fire-based creatures.
| Spawn (East slope) | Spawn (Volcano) |
|---|---|
| Bone Knight | Fire Elemental |
| Bone Magi | Hell Hound |
| Hellcat (Large) | Lava Lizard |
| Revenant Lion | Lava Serpent |
| Rotting Corpse | |
| Skeletal Knight | |
| Skeletal Mage |
11. Lake Kappa
Cranes, Deathwatch Beetles, and Kappas. A more pastoral setting; useful for low-tier farming.
12. Hotaka Plains
Healers can usually be found around the pavilions to the north and northeast of this open area — making Hotaka Plains a useful safe-rest stop for adventurers traversing the island.
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Elite Ninja | Gaman |
| Hiryu | Lesser Hiryu |
| Oni |
13. The Citadel Entrance
See main article: The Citadel. The eastern entrance to Travesty's Court — the Mondain's Legacy Peerless dungeon.
14. Isamu-Jima Moongate
| Coordinates | 55° 1' N, 10° 49' W |
|---|---|
The primary moongate access to Isamu-Jima.
15. Storm Point
The sea has seemingly flung her dead upon Storm Point — undead and shipwrecks are present.
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Bone Magi | Crane |
| Deathwatch Beetle | Kappa |
| Revenant Lion | Skeletal Mage |
16. Mount Hakonu
A small volcanic island off the eastern coast.
| Spawn | |
|---|---|
| Fire Elemental | Hell Hound |
| Kappa | Lava Lizard |
| Lava Serpent |
Strategic and lore notes
- Largest Tokuno island = most diverse spawn ladder; an Isamu-Jima character can train across many monster types.
- Rune Beetle is the canonical farm-able rare-pet target — Beetlescape (safer) or Yamandon Point (with risk).
- Hiryu Forest + Hotaka Plains + Hiryu Forest form a Hiryu-tamer corridor — the rideable Hiryu is a prestige mount.
- The Citadel entrance is on the eastern flank — Mondain's Legacy era's Tokuno Peerless dungeon.
- Mount Sho offers fire-themed combat with adjacent undead — diverse damage/resist types in a small zone.
- Hotaka Plains' healers are a strategic rest point for cross-island treks.
